Synapse?

Synapse is dedicated to promoting chemically balanced connections to, for, and about Molecular and Cellular Integrative Physiology (MCIP) graduate students.

The mission we have chosen to accept: bridge the divide between students (current and prospective), alumni, faculty, the scientific community, and Davis-ites.

UC Davis is organized into graduate groups giving students intellectual freedom to transcend disciplines and areas of research.  Within the MCIP group, there is an emphasis on shared research interests among faculty and students; flexibility to grow and quickly change to reflect emerging areas of interdisciplinary knowledge and technology; and an acceptance that many research questions transcend traditional academic departmental boundaries.  MCIP's network is composed of more than 80 faculty members drawn from 26 departments encompassed within the School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Biological Science, and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The campus-wide nature of the group provides the program with exceptional diversity, but presents a communication challenge.

Synapse was formed to strengthen connections among and to all MCIPeers.  Through this blog we hope to transcribe information about campus seminars, funding opportunities/deadlines, faculty and student achievements/awards, social events, life in Davis proper, and scientific advancements without SPAMing your inbox.

Cheers!
